Upgrading of the Tyrrhenian railway line Battipaglia-Reggio Calabria: reconstruction of the Petrace bridge, change to the development plan of the Gioia Tauro station and inclusion in the CTC
The project falls within the scope of the NOP “Infrastructures and Networks” 2014-2020 among the projects for completion coming from the previous plan. It is part of the more ample Program of operations concerning the Battipaglia–Reggio Calabria main line the objective of which is to increase the infrastructure’s reliability in terms of substrate and artifacts as well as of technological systems.
The operations include the upgrading of the line to the more recent operating standards, also with a view of achieving an increase in performance to be offered. The project envisages the reconstruction of the bridge crossing the Petrace River and related changes to the southern side root of the Gioia Tauro station, and its insertion in the IS remote control. The final aim is to structurally overhaul and speed up the line.
